Background
Sonic is a leading force in the Belgian gaming industry, operating a constellation of successful physical casinos and online brands, including Versailles Casino and its latest launch, PlayOne. Originally a land-based operator with deep roots in physical casino arcades, Sonic successfully transitioned to the digital space in 2020. Unlike many competitors who rely on third-party platform providers, Sonic is a “self-made” operator that manages its own proprietary platform. This autonomy allows them to maintain complete ownership of their data and user experience, making the decision to choose an instant payments partner a critical strategic decision.
Challenge
Before 2021, Sonic faced a major operational bottleneck: payment processing was entirely manual. In an industry where speed is a competitive necessity, manual workflows meant that withdrawals took hours – sometimes days – to reach players.
With other major gaming brands in the regulated Belgian market shifting toward instant payment services, Sonic realised that manual processing was no longer sustainable. They needed a solution that could eliminate administrative friction, reduce the volume of “where is my money?” support tickets, and, most importantly, provide the premium, fast-paced deposit service their players expected.
Solution
Sonic integrated Brite Instant Payments to power a seamless, end-to-end payment journey. By implementing Pay by Bank for deposits and Instant Payouts for withdrawals, Sonic enabled an instant account to account (A2A) workflow.
The integration allowed Sonic to offer direct banking with 10 major Belgian banks through a single API connection. This removed the friction of manual card entry and provided players with a familiar, secure environment. On the backend, Brite’s automation allowed Sonic to move away from manual intervention, enabling “insane accuracy” and near-instant processing of standard withdrawals.
Results
Reduction in Support Volume:
The most significant KPI movement since implementation has been the sharp decline in manual support tickets. Players no longer need to contact the support team to inquire about the status of their funds, as the instant nature of the transactions provides immediate closure and peace of mind.
Increased Engagement and Trust:
Sonic has observed a noticeable uptick in the average number of withdrawals across its brands. This trend is directly linked to higher levels of trust and engagement, as users feel more confident depositing when they know their winnings are accessible in real-time.
Greater Automation:
Manual intervention in the payment process has been almost eliminated through the Brite integration. Processing speed has improved from hours or days to instant, significantly reducing operational stress and minimising the risk of manual errors during peak periods.
Streamlined Scalability:
The technical agility of the partnership allowed Sonic to go live with its newest brand, PlayOne, with instant payments available from day one. Adding Brite to new platforms within their proprietary setup is now a streamlined process that can take as little as 24 hours.
