Founded by entrepreneur Harry Lindquist, Läkarmissionen has evolved into a global force for “Dignified life, a sustainable world.” Operating in over 30 countries, including major hubs in Sudan, Congo, and Ukraine, the organisation focuses on life-changing interventions like drilling wells, supporting hospitals, and aiding street children. With a funding model that relies heavily on private donors, maintaining a healthy stream of individual contributions is critical to their operational stability.

Challenge

For Läkarmissionen, Autogiro (Direct Debit) represents one-third of their total income. However, the fundraising environment is increasingly difficult; traditional methods like cold calling and physical mail are seeing declining response rates. To combat natural donor churn, the organisation must effectively recruit new supporters via their website.

The primary hurdle was “donor friction.” Manual entry of bank details is a notorious conversion killer; donors rarely know their clearing or account numbers by heart. Läkarmissionen’s previous technical solution was plagued by instability and high failure rates, meaning that even when a donor was motivated to give, the technology often failed them at the point of signup.

Solution

Läkarmissionen integrated Brite Data Solutions (account information service, AIS) to power a frictionless, automated onboarding flow. Instead of asking donors to navigate complex forms, the new system lets them use Mobile BankID to identify themselves and their bank securely. Brite then automatically retrieves the correct account information required for the Autogiro mandate. This ensures that the data is 100% accurate and verified directly by the donor’s bank, creating a “smooth and easy” path to contribution.
